We're Hiring · Concord, MA
Head of Store Experience
Full-time, on-site, approximately 30 to 40 hours per week, across both Concord locations.

About Happy on Main
Happy on Main is a women's retail boutique and community brand in the heart of Concord, MA. More than a store, we are a space for women to feel supported, lighter, and happier, through thoughtfully curated fashion, meaningful events, and genuine connection.
We have been recognized nationally, including a feature on The Oprah Podcast, and we are growing. Our team is small, passionate, and deeply connected to what we're building. Everyone who walks through our door, customer or team member, is part of something bigger than a transaction.
The Role
This is not a typical retail manager role. We are looking for someone who becomes the heartbeat of this store when our founder isn't on the floor, across our two retail locations in town. Someone who knows how to make a customer feel genuinely seen and connect on a personal level. Someone who understands what makes women feel good and how to bring the best of themselves to life. Someone who brings calm, consistency, and real warmth to a small team.
You will own the customer experience, the floor team, and event coordination that comes out of this store every week. Marketing instinct and retail instinct both matter here, and the combination is what makes this role rare and exciting.
You will work closely with our founder and a small, talented team of fractional and part-time contributors. You will help bring structure, consistency, and joy to the day-to-day of our stores, including ownership of associate scheduling and team accountability.
What You Will Own
Customer Experience
- Be the face and energy of Happy on Main. Greet customers, build genuine relationships, make every visit feel personal and memorable.
- Offer styling guidance, thoughtful product recommendations, and a zero-pressure shopping experience that reflects the Happy brand.
- Anticipate needs, handle questions and concerns gracefully, and follow up in ways that build loyalty.
- Set the tone and standard for every customer interaction, whether you are on the floor alone or with the full team.
In-Store Readiness
- Maintain store standards, including visual presentation, cleanliness, floor organization, and the overall look and feel of the space.
- Support event setup, in-store activations, and seasonal transitions that keep the store feeling fresh and aligned with the brand.
- Coordinate with our merchandising team on product placement and display updates.
Merchandising, shipping, receiving, and inventory management are handled by a separate team member and are not part of this role.
Content and Social
- Capture engaging on-brand content while you work, to turn into reels, product spotlights, and behind-the-scenes moments.
- Bring an authentic eye for storytelling. Real and relatable, not a polished production mindset.
- Collaborate with our creative and marketing team to align content with campaigns, events, and new arrivals.
People and Team
- Build a maintainable, structured store schedule that creates consistency for team members.
- Manage associate scheduling and ensure the floor is appropriately staffed and well coordinated.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and accountability for store associates, holding the team to the Happy standard.
- Work alongside our Store Associates and part-time team members, creating a collaborative, supportive dynamic on the floor.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, or a customer-facing brand environment. Boutique or lifestyle brand experience is a strong plus.
- A natural connector. Someone who lights up talking to people, remembers names, and makes customers feel genuinely seen.
- An eye for classic fashion. You know how to put together an outfit, tell the story of a product, and help a woman feel great in what she is wearing.
- Self-directed and reliable. You take ownership without needing to be managed, and you bring calm and consistency to the team.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. Happy is a growing business, roles evolve, and you are energized by that.
- Social media fluency. You are comfortable creating content on the fly within the store and have a sense of what resonates with a warm, community-oriented audience.
- A genuine alignment with the Happy mission. You believe in what we are building and that comes through in how you show up every day.
- High school diploma.
Schedule, Compensation, and Benefits
- Full-time, estimated at 30 hours per week.
- Compensation aligned with experience
- Some evening and weekend availability required. Our store is open on weekends, and we host events in store that often run into the evening.
- Schedule is flexible and will be set collaboratively based on store needs and candidate availability.
- Generous team member discount on all Happy on Main products.
- Paid vacation time.
- Health insurance and 401k contribution are not currently available.

Why Happy on Main
This is a rare opportunity to join a brand at a meaningful growth moment. One that has already earned national recognition and a deeply loyal community, and is now building the team and infrastructure to take it to the next chapter. You will not be one of many. You will be a key part of a small, mission-driven team where your work is visible, your voice matters, and your impact is real.
Come Be Happy
If you care about people, love fashion and community, and want to be part of something that feels good to be a part of, we would love to meet you.
